Okay, What's The Number To Call And Complain That Our Street Hasn't Been Plowed?

*

For some reason, the city of Overland Park, Kansas, does not believe that they should plow our street after a snowstorm.

This irks me and Blaine no end. Because even though it's not the multiple feet worth of snow the north of the country gets, it's still enough snow to cause you problems....like not being able to find your morning paper in the dadgum driveway....

Or, worse yet, getting your vehicle stuck in the mess before reaching a larger road that HAS been plowed...

And, Blaine also hates anything which interferes with his addiction to grilling food on the back deck. But even I am not demanding enough to expect that Overland Park's plowing staff assist us in clearing off that particular area.

As usual, come hell or high water, Little Baby hasn't a care in the world.....

So today is the first day of grad school (MSN ANP/GNP) taking an online class about info and control systems for Nursing. Assignment is to follow a blog for 2 weeks and report on it. Tell me why I should follow you.

Please contact me privately, Steve, and I will tell you exactly why there are excellent reasons for you to follow me. My email is knitterbo@yahoo.com

They don't plow residential streets in my city either. And with cities around the country facing budget cuts, don't hold your breath on seeing your street plowed anytime soon.

Also, I don't Twitter, but I do read Twitter posts on people's blogs. I read today's posts, and I have to ask you something that's been bothering me for a while now, Why are you still following YH, if you don't like what she writes? Just stop reading her blog and her Twitter feed, and let go. As my mama would say, "Stay away from the crazymakers in life. Your gray hairs will thank you for it." LOL

Besides, you have so much better ways to spend your time, like knitting more of your "uniquely Bo" creations. BTW, I love the aran sweater you knit for Christmas. It is gorgeous! :o)

Mel, Gosh, thank you for saying what you did! You are kind about the aran sweater! To tell you the truth, I see only the flaws. Although it fit okay, I see a bunch of things I wish I'd done differently. I guess I have a chance, now, since I'm trying to knit my uncle a sweater (but he's a size larger, aack!)

As to your other issue with my behavior, I will admit that I am the type of person who sometimes feels I have to "declare" my opinions. And many times in my life, it is not appreciated. I don't think my opinions are better or worse than anybody else's---I just feel that I've got to declare them. And I will admit to you something else...that this desire to be heard is totally not appreciated by a lot of people. In other words, I'm frequently not that popular...

Let's keep in touch?

Bo

I know what you mean about the flaws in one's knitting. I have the same problem myself. However, I have discovered that the recipient never notices and loves the finished object inspite of what I consider mistakes. So I have been trying to practice "letting go." So what if one sock has 62 stitiches and the other 64? My Dad can't tell the difference. So, I chalk it up to a learning experience. I've learned next time I need to make sure I double count my stitches and double check the directions. My gray hairs definitely appreciate it. LOL

I asked my question because you seem like someone who wants to focus on the positive things in life, and that you are trying to get yourself to a happier, healthier you. You remind me of myself in a lot of ways. I too feel I need to declare myself on certain issues. However, I have learned that sometimes it's best just to walk away, because in the end it's not really all that important in the grand scheme of things. I'm never going to change certain people's minds, and all it's going to do is cause me stress because I'll keep thinking about it over and over in my head. Sometimes, I'll just declare it in my journal if it gets to be too much. That way, it's out of my head and it frees up my mind for more important things, like my family and my knitting. :o)

For the record, I read her blog and like it because she makes me laugh. I identify with certain aspects of her life, like trying to write around family, raising kids and knitting. I read your blog because I like it and you make me laugh too. I identify with your desire to create, your Southern view of the world and the daily battle to stay mentally healthy (I battle depression.)

As for keeping in touch, I will. I don't comment too often because I'm usually chasing after one of my 4 kids, so my time is limited. However, just so you know, I read you daily! :o)
