But Where Was Good Ole Bo When This Was Happening????

I'm so very SICK of your whining about my comments about YH. So....you asked and I deliver. The following is Yarn Harlot's OWN WORDS in 2008 about how she believes that Americans "take her Canada Day comments wrong"---and she wrote this post fully one year BEFORE I EVER said anything about it in 2009.

Get it? She had already been taken to task for writing remarks which mock or criticize America an ENTIRE FUCKING YEAR before I EVER SAID ONE WORD about her Canada Day comments. So read and enjoy. And if you don't believe me, read her 2008 "Oh Canada" blog post.

So, as Yarn Harlot sayeth: (and I quote)

"July 1, 2008

Oh Canada

Now, I really, really hate that I have to do this, but every year I've been given a whupping. Saying "Canada is a great country" is not a direct translation for "The US stinks". Being pro-Canada is not being anti-US. Saying "I love the way we do things" does not mean "and therefore, you do it wrong". This is a whole different country with different laws and culture. We will never be the same and that does not mean that either country dwells in the heart of darkness. Loving where I live is not bashing the US any more than having fireworks and shouting "USA #1" on the 4th of July (which I thoroughly recommend, since I think a country is only as good as the people who love and defend it) constitutes an attack on Canada. Thus ends the pre-emptive strike."

Then there's blah blah blah in the middle, and then she continues by mentioning Canada's disdain and disgust for our President at the time:

"74% of people consider President Bush a threat to world peace,"

and then:

"(PS. Sorry about this guys, so many of you are leaving such wonderful comments, but I'm closing them. I know that won't stop the private mail and I can live with that. Really, there's a few people that I'm just gong to save from themselves. For the record, although I'm probably going to have to type it a hundred more times, Canadians having an opinion about the country with whom they share the worlds largest trade relationship and the worlds largest undefended border is appropriate and necessary. The US is a superpower, and what happens in the government there influences the lives of people around the world. US economy down in a mortgage mess = Canadians out of work. I understand the urge to tell the world to mind their own business...but as long as the US has a hand in everyone's business, that's simply not a reasonable request. To quote Spiderman's Uncle Ben "With great power, comes great responsibility." How Americans vote influences the world.) "

Okay, everybody? Comments? How do you like the above part where she takes the US to task for "influencing" Canada negatively? TELL ME, since this post was written in 2008 and I didn't make my comments till 2009, TELL ME just who exactly is Yarn Harlot talking to when she defends herself against people criticizing her past comments? Um.....COULD IT BE....COULD IT BE THAT OTHER PEOPLE AGREE WITH ME AND HAD ALREADY PROTESTED HER PREVIOUS COMMENTS WHICH MOCK OUR COUNTRY????

I rest my case.

That is a good idea Bo! Turn it off, they have to at least register & show who they are somewhat or they plain can't post anything!

Thinking on the positives! (you & you alone know what I am referring to on that one!)

Cindy, you're the comment that caused the Comments Page to go to a second page! I didn't think that the comments function of blogger did that, heh!

Don't worry---I'm going to publish a new blog post very soon that will stop this whole thread, and I won't allow them to vent on that one. I won't print them.

Actually, it seems that a comment or 2 disappeared Bo. There were 201 before - the 201st was the person suggesting the anonymous posting be taken off, then you had posted, then I would have been at least the 3rd - but then I was 201. Don't know which was missing, but maybe someone got a bit wise & removed some nastiness themselves!

As for them venting - it doesn't bother me, but I hate seeing you dealing with it! As for me, I might go get some dinner, maybe an adult beverage & am going to settle in for some knitting time to give me time to digest the news I received today! Have a good night, if I don't talk to you more tonight!

Respectfully, I don't think they are going to stop with their comments. It's just too much fun to troll others on the Internet under a cloak of anonymity. Least said, soonest mended, and all that. Just move on.

One's blog is like one's livingroom, isn't that what YH says? You can delete whatever you like. I'm sure you wouldn't let people come into your house and insult you. They won't get tired. They have nothing better to do.

Not sure why I feel compelled to write this but I hate to see people being bullied online. Just let it go. I know there are blogs I read that I simply can't stand the person who writes it but I still feel compelled to see what they are up to, it just makes me upset and it's not the kind of person I want to be. So as hard as it is, just move on--there is no way to "win" on the Internet. It just goes on and on forever, each side thinks they are correct. Life is too short.

Thanks, you guys. I have stopped printing the horrible venom. Only supportive comments will be printed from now till I get a new blog post up. I think this one got its point across. Again, thanks those of you who were supportive.

Bo - the one great thing about this country is that we have the freedom of speech to either agree or disagree with others about every/anything, including presidents. I personally do not agree with you about Bush....but that is besides the point. What I find hugely ironic and hugely hypocritical is when ANYONE who makes loads of money off of people in one particular state or one particular country then bash that country. My reply to them would be: if you dont like where the money comes from - return it and dont accept it! Otherwise - at least be polite. You can speak out about particular issues, but not generalize it from one side of you while accepting money from the other side....

I really hope you bring this up with your therapist. This level of anger and obsession over someone you've never met seems incredibly unhealthy.

I'll admit that I first came here because I disagreed with you, but having read your posts now I'm just concerned for you. There are better ways to be patriotic than reading the blog of someone you dislike and then ranting about it.

Please, for your own sake, bring this up with your therapist. It doesn't seem to make you happy, it just seems to add more stress to your life. I realize that I don't know you, but maybe your doctor can help you decide if it's healthy or not.

I'd hate to think that those of us who disagree with you are impeding your recovery by adding fuel to the fire, so I'm not going to argue with you. Just know that I'm praying that you find some peace and health.

Bless.

To the latest Anonymous:

Goddang but HOW MANY TIMES have I said the following on this blog:

1. I'm not angry. The things I say are said calmly, as fact.

2. I'm actually happy, because being patriotic and standing up to somebody who I interpret as making negative cracks about my country is MY DUTY. It makes me happy.

3. My therapists have known about this blog, my issue with YH, and my reaction to it, for 2 solid years. They know EVERYTHING about my life. So far they don't think that I'm some kind of rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth type of person that you evidently do.

4. And WHERE DO YOU GET OFF telling me what to "tell" my therapists, huh? What kind of idiot are you? You don't know ANYTHING about me except what you've read on my blog. Believe me when I tell you that my blog is an EXTREMELY SMALL SPECK of what happens in my life. I rarely give it a second thought when I'm not online.

5. And don't EVEN pretend that you're "concerned" for my mental health. Your comment is just your passive-aggressive way to stick it to me and tell me how much you think I'm a jerk. (Do I have "stupid" stamped on my forehead?)

6. Oh yeah---and did I say, fuck you--I can say ANYTHING I WANT on here and it does not tell you ANYTHING about what's going on in my mental state. Just because people express dislikes for people/places/things doesn't mean they are raving mad animals who are in a frenzy of anger. So, like, if I say I hate cinnamon rolls...does that mean I'm eaten up with anger over pastry?

Stupid!
