I got a party in my pocket
cause you know I just got paid,
And I'm feeling fine,
it's 99 in the shade...
(Jon Bon Jovi, "99 In The Shade")

* The above picture shows you how you can tell when it's hotter than hell in Podunk.
(And sometimes, on boiling hot days, I am highly tempted to get in there with them.....)
(And they'd let me, too---and not only would I get cooler, but I'd probably find out a lot of really good gossip....)
The below picture is also how you can tell when it's hotter than hell in Podunk. All the animals seek sanctuary under the nearest shade tree....
(And I think that crochety cow behind the tree was saying: "Don't look at her---and maybe she'll go away...." )
*
I've even seen entire HERDS of cows trying to push and shove their way under the same shade tree....
Aarrghh, dang it.....we're in the dreaded Dog Days for sure....*

spring is springing here on the other side of the planet, so I hope your side starts to cool off soon.
I honestly dislike August for this reason.
But. I will admit. So far, on the West Coast, its actually been a pretty mild month (knock on wood)
wow, we had our "dog days" last month. Right now at night it's only a few degrees above freezing. (Which I LOVE.. not too hot, not too cold.) What is the temperature reaching there?
Duckie - where do you live??? LOL
Hope you are staying dry Bo...
It has been unseasonably mild out here in NoCA
I envy all these people with the beautiful weather. Just so's you know you're not alone, Bo--it was HOT here last week (and the week before). Probably not as hot as you--we topped out with a heat index of 110. The Ts never did get out to play that day--it was every bit as miserable at midnight, when we did Last Call, as it was at 5 p.m.
I do NOT like August. I'm ready for November.
I always say we live at the back door to hell. Gotta love Texas!
