I Went To The Swamps of Louisiana And All I Got Was This Kauni Cardigan....

*

Hi everybody!!! I'm back from my Thanksgiving holiday at my uncle's place in the Louisiana swamp, and I can't wait to show you the pictures of my adventure! We all had a TOTALLY FABULOUS time---all of us being my uncle, my mother, my uncle's brother-in-law, and another good friend of my uncle's.

While there, I learned to knit by the light of an oil lantern (and sometimes in just the plain dark!), just like the pioneers, since there was no electricity. And I finished my Kauni cardigan, whereby I had mixed two colorways, the ET and the EQ. (And, true to my form, I knitted the sleeves "un-matching"...)

And my uncle allowed me to go through my late grandmother, Mamo's, buttonbox---and I found these incredibly cool vintage buttons to put on the cardigan.

Anyhoo, I will soon put up pictures of our wonderful holiday (especially the ones showing how we had to boat our way to his property, which was under water!!) I've never had such a wonderful holiday in my life!

I think your sweater is one of the prettiest Kauni sweaters I have ever seen, beautiful and fun, all at the same time.

Glad you had a good T-day!

Loved the story AND the sweater! What pattern did you use?

Thanks, Monkeygurrrrrl and Leslie! I made up my own pattern--it is a simple rectangle with dropped sleeves. I knitted cables for the bottom edge ribbing. I steeked the front and sleeves, and I knitted a fair isle panel before the buttonbands.

I look forward to reading more of your adventures in the bayou, and I love the sweater...I wish I could just wing it when I am knitting. I'm glad you had a good time with your family!
